When Power Looks Like Peace
Somehow we've found ourselves in a culture drenched in outrage. Peter reminds us in chapter 3 that the Way Jesus has asked us to follow is completely different. He calls us to unity, compassion, humility, and full of blessing. Even towards ... maybe especially towards, those who wish us harm.
That's not weakness, it's the most stable form of strength there is.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are a people whose power doesn't lie in winning debates, but living like Jesus in the most unimaginable pressures. Peter challenges us to live out our faith with gentleness and respect (v. 15). He hasn't called us to shout our hope across the culture or win the culture war society wants us to wage. He calls us to live this hope in how we navigate every day life.
This hope can't be threatened, silenced, or shaken. It's eternal and pure in a dark world craving authenticity and peace. Our peaceful and gentle faith may just be the most powerful sermon any of us ever preaches.

Another great devotional. Will further break down specifically versus 1-7 Matt? Thanks man.
Reading this makes me want to strive for more patience, kindness, and to forgive. Not to hold all that anger towards another. It just eats me up inside when I hold on to things. When I exercise these traits I find I feel a peacefulness deep inside me. This makes me want to please God more. To be a better me!
