Once again, we visit Psalm 67 and find ourselves opening with a prayer for blessing. But this blessing isn’t one for us to consume for ourselves. This Psalm asks God to be gracious to us, to bless us, and to make His face shine on us … so that … so that His way may be known on earth and His salvation to all nations. His blessing has purpose.
 
I once heard a saying that we should “get all we can then sit on the can!” But that’s not how the Kingdom works. His grace and blessing to us should turn us outward to others.
 
As the passage moves along, it opens up into a much wider vision of joy. All the nations are invited to rejoice because God judges with fairness and guides us here on earth. His reign is good news because the King Himself is just, attentive, and worthy of our faith.
 
You see, in this text, grace and worship take the shape of missions. Scripture has promised us a future where peoples from all over the world find gladness beneath the canopy of His rule and reign.
 
So, today, let your worship become intercession, thanking God for His grace. Then, ask Him to use you to make His Way known in all the nations, starting with your family, your neighbor, and your city.
 
We may never know this side of eternity how God will use our simple obedience, but we do know where all this is heading. The nations are being invited into joy, and the people of God have the distinct privilege of singing, serving, praying, and bearing witness for our King all along the way.

Where are you tempted to privately enjoy blessing rather than allow it to turn you outward towards others? What person can you bring into your prayer life today as part of the mission to the nations?

Father, I’m grateful for your generous gifts of grace and abundant blessings. Use me to make Your ways known among the nations. Teach me to pray beyond my own concerns, to worship with the whole earth in mind. Use my life to point others towards the King. Amen.
